Twining Sits Down with Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson

On January 11th, Mayor Richardson sat down with Rob and Mariel to discuss all things Long Beach and followed with a tour of our lab.

The first video in our series is called “The Makeup of Long Beach – Business Rooted and Grown in Long Beach” and the discusses how the City of Long Beach has grown over its 100+ year history by supporting the vitality of its local businesses. Watch as Mayor Richardson describes how Long Beach’s local ecosystem is furthered by its anchor institutions. These businesses have grown with the City over decades, and now support new business growth which supports the health of the Long Beach economy overall.

Asphalt Binders, California vs. Nevada

Caltrans and NDOT have each created polymer-modified asphalt binders that meet PG “plus” specifications that differ in their properties, but is there really a difference between the two? The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) use different polymer-modified asphalt binders. Since the implementation of the Superpave performance grade (PG) system, several state highway agencies, including Caltrans and NDOT, have experienced good performance with polymer-modified hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures and have created the PG “plus” specifications to enhance the performance of flexible pavement in harsh climates.

Intermediate Foundations
